I am looking for works by underrepresented composers who are:

  • women
  • racial minorities
  • LGBTQ+
  • (all genders) from regions normally not encountered in undergraduate theory textbooks
  • Asia, Central Asia, Middle East, Australia, Eastern and Southern Europe, Scandinavia, Baltic and Balkan regions, Latin America.  
  • Modal music examples from everyone. Have a good Locrian example? Sent it!

Process for Submitting Examples

  • Please email name, title of work, movement or number within piece if applicable, tempo marking if appropriate, and measure numbers.
  • If there is an online link (such as a YouTube link), please include that as well so I can create a short excerpt and give the performers credit.
  • Include the chapter or chapters that you would classify it under.

  • Please include your name and title so that I can add you to our contributor list.
  • Include a score or a link to a score. To ensure uniformity, you do not need to engrave it.

  • There is no set time for examples to be posted, but expect 7 to 10 days.
  • I will get back to you ASAP.
